Supreme Court rejects appeal from PPG
Industries Inc
March 28, 2005
Supreme Court Action:
The Supreme Court rejected an appeal from PPG Industries Inc., which
was trying to stop a class-action antitrust lawsuit over flat glass and
automotive replacement glass prices.
PPG Industries, Pittsburgh, is one of several companies sued by glass
installers over the price of glass products in the early 1990s. The glass
installers allege PPG and other companies conspired to raise prices.
Initially a federal trial judge threw out the lawsuit. The 3rd U.S. Circuit
Court of Appeals, Philadelphia has ruled the case can proceed and the Supreme
Court's rejection of the appeal clears the way for further litigation.
